This is a tough age group–in the midst of liturgical crafts, picture books, and toys, Catholic middle schoolers can sometimes get overlooked.

Today I wanted to share 2 resources for your middle schooler that you don’t want to miss!

But first–our Dear God books were featured on the Catholic Exchange! Here is what the author said:

On a recent leisurely weekend, I began to flip through her 2nd editions of Dear God: I Don’t Get It and Dear God: You Can’t Be Serious. A few hours later I found that I had read every word of both books.

They are precisely what the Catholic middle school child – perhaps unwittingly – hungers for today. In this seemingly rudderless youth culture,  immorality is already beginning to be mainstreamed and sacred truths pushed aside for pre-teens. Thereafter, of course, many young minds experience confusion, anxiousness, and travail.

Catholic parents today need all the help they can get – and Aaron Ajax can’t help but to gently shape and warm children’s souls, psyches, and memories. Between each line of Patti’s books lay the gentle reassurances of God’s measureless love and tender care for characters.

Now, I would like to introduce Detective Thomas

Fans of the Dear God series and Clare’s Costly Cookie–this is the book for you!

Thomas has a pretty impressive talent. This middle school boy is a detective. He has solved lots of mysteries at school and at home. Thomas just knows how to figure things out when there is a problem.

But this mystery is his biggest one of all: He believes God exists, but he doesn’t know why.

With the help of some supernatural clues from a mysterious friend, Thomas proves that we can know God exists not only through faith but also through reason!

In this story, curious middle-grade readers can follow along with Thomas’s sleuthing, while using prompts to solve the mystery of God’s existence themselves.

Using Saint Thomas Aquinas’s Five Proofs for the Existence of God as a basis, this fun, engaging story helps young people understand that faith is reasonable, and makes sense!

Psst–another book for your inquisitive kid: Holy Mysteries!
