Did you know there is a beautiful Catholic tradition of blessing your Easter Baskets?

While many of us do not have this opportunity offered at our local parish (though you should ask your priest if he could do it next year!), you can still do this practice at home! There are a few foods traditionally associated with Easter baskets (learn more about them here!), but you can include whatever celebratory foods your family plans for Easter!

The Canons Regular of St. John Cantius shared this at-home blessing for families who do not have an Easter Basket Blessing offered at their local parish:

One of the items traditionally included in Easter Baskets is a beeswax candle ( to symbolize Christ, the Light of the World)–our “make your own” Paschal Candle is a beautiful beeswax addition that can also be used as an Easter table centerpiece!

“Our family has learned about the importance of the Paschal candle by making our own version and having it blessed by our priest. We light it all throughout the Easter season.

“Our family loved making our own Paschal candle this year. This set made it easy and fun. Our 3, 5, & 7 year old were all able to help roll the candle with varying levels of help. I’m so happy with how it turned out and they are already asking to make another one next year. Highly recommend!”

“Honestly, super easy to put together. Kids really enjoyed this little family activity. This will be a yearly purchase in our home!

“We tried the Pascal Candle because we love the advent candles so much. This was a fantastic project, we will do it next year for sure.”
