July 26th is the Feast Day of Sts. Joachim and Ann, the grandparents of Jesus!
On this day, it is traditional for Catholics to pray for their own grandparents as they liturgically celebrate the couple who raised Mary to be the mother of Jesus.
Pope Francis has established the fourth Sunday of July to be the first annual World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly.
We have created a FREE Grandparents Card to help you celebrate and honor your grandparents this July! Featuring Sts. Joachim and Ann with the Child Jesus, this is a beautiful way for you to show your grandparents the important role they play in helping their grandchildren get to Heaven!
Print, color, and mail your card this week so they can receive it in time for July 28th!
And please, share this blog with your friends!
In addition to encouraging the honoring of grandparents and the elderly, a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, has been established for all those who participate in liturgical celebrations observing this celebration and those who visit their grandparents or elderly brothers and sisters in need. Thank you so much for this!
How can the card be printed?
Hi Kate—if you enter your email address, the card will automatically become available for download. Just download & print on your computer!
I love this printable to give to grandparents. It would be even better if it included a sentence or two about who the saints are and their relationship to Mary and Jesus. We have some grandparents who wouldn’t necessarily know that and this would help catechize them when they receive the card!
That’s a great idea! We left the lines blank so families could fill out any message they would like—including a description of Sts. Joachim & Ann’s relationship with Jesus if their grandparents might not already know that information!
