The priest who founded the Knights of Columbus is credited by the Vatican with the miraculous healing of an unborn child of a life-threatening condition.

That’s right: through his intercession, a baby was healed in the womb. What a powerful pro-life testimony!

Today it was announced by the Vatican that, with the acceptance of this miracle, Fr. Michael McGivney has officially been approved for beatification.

Following his beatification, Father McGivney’s cause will require one more authenticated miracle before he can be considered for canonization.

He will not be the first member of the Knights of Columbus to be canonized. A group of six Mexican members of the organization were martyred during the Cristero War of 1926-29 and its aftermath.

In fact, the second Glory Story we ever produced was about one of these brave knights, Saint Miguel de la Mora. It’s an inspiring story about what it means to be a priest, willing to risk your own personal safety and your life to bring the sacraments to your flock. How appropriate it is for today, perhaps, don’t you think? Here’s the CD version and here’s the instant download MP3 version.

The other five Knights who are canonized are as follows:

St. Luis Batis, St. Rodrigo Aguilar, St. Pedro de Jesús Maldonado, St. José María Robles, and St. Mateo Correa.

And guess what else? We celebrated the feast day of these 6 martyred Knights of Columbus on May 21st–just a few days ago. We created this video below in honor of these men on their Feast Day! (Best to watch it while you can, because while it was A-OK to post last year, this year Facebook “rejected” this video.)
