A quick google search will quickly bring up dozens of Christmas Picture Books Lists.
While I have plenty of wonderful Christmas picture books for my daughter (who barely sits still long enough to get through a few pages, but…maybe one day…), I have found it difficult to find picture books for the Advent season.
Fortunately, I am here with the answer to this quandary!
An Advent Hope: A Children’s Book about Family Advent Traditions is a gorgeous addition to your children’s library and a perfect way to share the liturgical season of Advent through story! This Advent, teach the traditions of Advent through this read-aloud!
Joan, Joe, Emmanuel, and Gianna are surprised when their parents suddenly begin bringing things into their home at the beginning of December. Evergreen branches, candles, and new foods keep appearing throughout the house. They are quickly told that this is part of “Advent” and that the family is preparing for the Christmas season.
Join the kids as their family celebrates Advent as a time of prayerful waiting and expectation, full of fun traditions and treats!
Excerpts from the Scripture readings for Advent and Christmas are keyed to the main text throughout the book, helping little ones make connections between the story and what they hear at Mass throughout the Advent and the beginning of the Christmas seasons.
When you’re done reading, you can bless your Advent wreath using the blessing at the back of the book (you can find even more Blessings for Advent HERE).
How beautiful for your children to see a family living out their Catholic faith through their everyday life! I cannot recommend this picture enough for Catholic families!
As a special surprise, we have also created a read-aloud video of this Advent picture book for Holy Heroes fans!
