As we join the Church in praying for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, we are also beginning to pray for the election of a new Pope.
Found in the Roman Missal, below is the Prayer for the Election of a New Pope:
O God, Eternal Shepherd,
Who govern Your flock with unfailing care,
Grant in Your boundless fatherly love
a pastor for Your Church
who will please You by His holiness
and to us show watchful care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
St. Peter, pray for us.
As we approach the election of the next Pope, now is an important time to instill in your children CONFIDENCE in the papacy. We know that many parents struggle to explain WHAT the Church teaches about the infallibility of the Pope and WHERE these teachings come from.
