Now, I wanted to give further information about this study–and what Catholic parents need to be aware of:

No, it’s not the Chicago fire either–this fire happened the same year but killed many more people and destroyed over a million acres.
This is not just an important piece of U.S. history that is being lost, this is an important piece of Catholic history that has been forgotten.

I have a distinct memory the first time a friend said this to me. I was 19 or 20 and was catching up with an old friend.
This was a good friend–we had grown up together in large Catholic families. We had met at a Catholic youth event. She had been homeschooled and had always taken theology while growing up.

A study published recently shows the source of the dramatic decrease in religious belief in the US (the rise of the “nones” who don’t believe in God).
It is providential because we have been preparing to launch a Holy Heroes project specifically to address the issue!
