His healing was the final miracle needed for Kateri Tekakwitha’s canonization…but he also saw Heaven!
Almost a decade ago, my sister and I had the opportunity to interview Jake Finkbonner, whose healing at 5 years old was attributed to then Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha (the final miracle needed for her canonization 2012).
While the healing alone from a flesh-eating bacteria was a truly miraculous event, perhaps even more miraculous was Jake’s visit to Heaven, which he remembered and shared with his parents after waking up from his medically induced coma.
In honor of St. Kateri’s feast day tomorrow, we wanted to share part of our interview with Jake and his descriptions of Heaven:

A few weeks ago, our family attended the Mass of the Angels for Beckett Weinert at our parish in Charlotte, NC. Since Beckett’s story has touch the hearts of many over the last few months, we wanted to share the homily from our pastor, Fr. Timothy Reid, so that others can understand the very personal connection that may also have in Heaven.
