Here is how we are preparing for Advent:
My 3.5-year-old was THRILLED when I told her we would be making our Advent Candles with her cousins over Thanksgiving (I got this idea from another Holy Heroes family). She was too young to help make the candles last year, but she remembers them {see picture}!!!
I pulled out my Blessings of Advent & Christmas cards so we are ready to bless the Advent Wreath and Nativity Set once we get those set up!
Since reading through the Bible a few years ago, I have become a BIG fan of the Jesse Tree.
We printed these FREE Jesse Tree ornaments and hung them along a garland in our kitchen {see picture}. Before that, Edie loved using this simple sticker version hung on our fridge.
While these paper ornaments have served us well, I hope to eventually upgrade to these wooden ornaments.
Since Edie (along with every 3-year-old) has A LOT of questions about each Jesse Tree ornament, I am thrilled that she will be old enough to watch the daily Jesse Tree Ornament videos in Advent Adventure!
I love to have a few Advent picture books to display in the living room. We have loved An Advent Hope (Edie loves seeing a Catholic family in storybook form!) and are excited to add All about Advent & Christmas this year! Friends with old children have suggested Very Young Catholics in Austria as well.
There are a few other important feast days during Advent that our family celebrates!
St. Nicholas shoes on December 6th will include an Advent & Christmas Seasons coloring book (on SALE for 60% off now)! For older kids, the LEGO® Advent wreath is a huge hit!
The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a huge celebration for my family! I always put up this Face of Our Lady print and this year, we may even add the Our Lady of Guadalupe ornament!
