A study published recently shows the source of the dramatic decrease in religious belief in the US (the rise of the “nones” who don’t believe in God).
It has implications for all parents (I explain briefly in the video below)
It is providential because we have been preparing to launch a Holy Heroes project specifically to address the issue!
Here’s a link to the study with the charts and conclusions HERE.
My PART 2 video about this study can be found–> HERE.
Please enter your email to be alerted because this new program will open for registration for ONLY a limited period of time–don’t miss it.

Ken Davison created Glory Stories, which became a weekly radio series heard globally on the Ave Maria Satellite Radio Network and EWTN’s radio network, WEWN. In 2007, he and his wife, Kerri, founded Holy Heroes–and their children stepped in to help shortly thereafter to create the online “Adventures” for Advent, Lent, Spiritual Adoption, and Marian Consecration.
Thanks For All You Do!
Thank you for your kind words!
Dear Clare,
Firstly, I didn’t realize that my comment would become public. Thank you for handling that so gracefully.
I do realize that your team requires a lot of money to do what it does. I had been thinking that it might be easier to request funds or have a participation fee than to just keep trying to sell things because every ad takes away significantly from the gospel message of the email in which it is included. However, I understand that each business has its own model and you have opted for the one that tries to gain funds by selling product alongside your ministry publications rather than just asking for funds periodically or having a registration fee. Somehow that comes across poorly to me but if it works for you, then God’s will be done.
In this case, giving honest feedback, it really seemed heart wrenching to give so little information about the actual study and then offer a limited registration, which seemed to imply that if you have a child in the registration age limit and don’t get your family registered in time, you might be at risk for your child losing their faith by age 13. Please just review the video and see if that resonates. It seemed so very high-stakes and almost threatening. Looking back, perhaps “Holy Heroes Dad” thought that it was a providential link between an incredibly important study and the project y’all have been working on. However, it was presented in a way that implied that if you don’t get on this Holy Heroes bandwagon, you are putting your family at risk of your children losing their faith. Just so heartsick about it.
I did get to see the link to the actual study after posting this comment (another does of humility here), so at least the study was presented in full rather than a cryptically short summary at some point in the post so that we could assess whether we are in need of an additional program as a family.
Hoping it’s just me. Just please accept as feedback about the manner of presentation both of this particular announcement and of the many, many ads.
May I be humbled by this all being out there for everyone to see.
I have to say thank you, of course, because even if everything was in terrible taste (which I am not saying it is), I know that your ministry is still done with the intent to spread the Gospel. So God reward you for that!
And thank you again for your thoughtful response.
We are going to take your feedback and have decided to add a fee for registering for this new program. Hopefully that will help us cover the cost of running it without additional promotions. Hoping that you will be one of the families who is willing to pay for this program!
Dear Sir,
Why in the world is the registration limited? I began disregarding Holy Heroes resources about a year ago because it was so incredibly infused with trying to sell, sell, sell the resources. This, to me, indicated a definite lack of trust in God’s provision for the Holy Heroes ministry (which would theoretically be abundant if you just do the work to which you’re called). Instead, it seemed to become a “ministry” with the primary intent of raising money; almost a conduit for cash. Now you reveal this startling and immensely frightening information with a “limited registration” carrot on a string? Please show me some legitimate reason for doing it this way so that I do not have to lose faith completely in what might be a very good work; I have tried to give the benefit of the doubt for Holy Heroes over and over again but now I just have to ask. Thank you.
Hi Anne–let me address your concerns in a few stages. First, we are limiting registration so we can better serve the families in the program. We have close to 100,000+ individual families registered for our free programs. This is a huge number of inquiry emails and phone calls to keep up with (at times, it is overwhelming). It also requires us to create an increasing range of resources to serve all the ages, needs, and individual requests from that many families. We want to intentionally serve the families who are interested–because of this, we are limiting registration because we CANNOT continue to keep up with the customer service needs of a program with over 34,000+ participants (like Lenten Adventure was this past Lent). Instead, we are focused on gathering a smaller number of families who know the quality of work we do and want to partner with us through this program.
Now, this leads to your next point—our ask for financial support. Again, we offer free resources to over 100,000+ families throughout the year. The cost associated with creating these free resources includes paying for: graphic design, platform fees, artists, videographers, domain names, customer service reps, editors, and so much more. Just this week, we had to completely update our website which costs thousands of dollars in hours billed to tech services to update all the pages, broken likes, images that didn’t translate, and so forth. Even though we are hit with an unexpected $3,000, we are continuing to offer our free programs…for free. No charge has been translated to our customers.Just taking the time to keep up with this blog (writing content, creating graphics, filming videos) is hours of free labor every week. Growing up, this is our family’s sole source of income. Now, it continues to be my parents’ income as well as my family’s along with several other families as well. For us to continue offering free content, we do need to raise funds to cover the cost as well as pay our employees.
Unfortunately, I think most people don’t realize how many hours and skilled individuals it requires to produce this level of content (day in and day out) for the last 15 years. It is such a high dollar figure and as the economy continues to worsen, it has only gotten even higher.
It looks like you have been using Holy Heroes resources since 2020. So, after using our resources for the last 3 years, it was only this past year that you began feeling the pressure to support us financially. I think that is a really important note to highlight: we have been serving you for years without you even realizing the intense financial cost to ourselves (and our families) to provide your family with these resources. We are continuing to offer our free resources—but we are also trying to make families aware that while we are serving them, our primary responsibility is to our own families first. We need to be able to cover the financial needs of our families (and the families we employ). The only way we can do that is if people order our PAID resources (again, we offer MANY free resources). If you are not able to offer support, please consider spreading the word about our free resources so that perhaps we can reach other families who can cover the financial cost in your stead.
I hope that gives you some insight into what the last 15+ years have looked like for the Holy Heroes family. I would like to offer a sincerely genuine “thank you” for posting this question publicly! I usually have to respond to these messages in the private of my inbox (answering emails in regards to free resources is hours of work each week…), so I am glad I can publicly clear the air here.
