While there are always plenty of ways for adults to get involved with pro-life ministry, it can sometimes be difficult to involve young kids.

How do you raise pro-life children without injuring their innocence or overwhelming them?

We have created a list of easy ways you can involve young children (from home!) in pro-life ministry!

Here are 8 ways you can involve young children in pro-life ministry:

1. Spiritually Adopt a Baby

Fulton Sheen created a beautiful prayer to spiritually adopt an unborn baby! This is an especially great option for families who are currently expecting a baby–>find prayer cards with Venerable Fulton Sheen’s prayer here.

2. Read Books with Your Kids

There are some fun picture books that celebrate life (thank you, Culture of Life Studies Program for creating this list) and help start this important conversation with even the youngest of children! My niece, Lucy, is at that age at which she loves looking at babies and talking about babies…I think because she just moved out of the crib so thinks she is NOT a baby anymore!

3. Send Cards to a Nursing Home

This is an easy and beautiful way to bring joy to the elderly community, many of whom feel isolated during this time! Contact your local nursing home and ask if you can drop off cards created by your kiddos! It’s a great way to teach children that life on earth is precious and wonderful from start to a natural end.

4. Sign up for our Spiritual Adoption Prayer Adventure

This program is a FREE, fun, and gentle way to teach children about prenatal development! With videos, activities, and discussion questions, young children can have a deep (and scientific!) understanding of how babies grow!

And a part of this program (which children love!) is the journal in which we ask them to find out how mom, dad, and grandparents prepared for them before they were born (like what food cravings they spurred in Mom and how Dad coped!). Just sign up here (it’s absolutely free), and you’ll get bi-weekly emails packed with fun stuff for the next nine months until your “adopted baby” is born.

5. Get this cute charm for your car keys, back packs, whatever!

Whenever you send someone to “Hurry–get my car keys!” this charm will remind everyone that your family is pro-life! The charm is the same size as a 10-week old baby–and it’s so cute with the little heart! Rubber, beautiful, great little clasp–and a so-sweet Respect Life giveaway to everyone in the youth group, club, parish, classroom. Click here to see it! [Note: spread the word; Facebook doesn’t like it so keeps shutting us down.]

6. Donate Clothes and Toys to a Crisis Pregnancy Center

Involve your kids in gathering gently-used clothes and toys for moms who will put them to good use! Especially now during all these restrictions, support for families with babies-on-the-way is an important work of mercy.

7. Celebrate Pro-Life Cupcake Day

October 9th is Pro-Life Cupcake Day (yes: it is marked on our office calendar here!) to remember the birthdays of all the babies who will never get to celebrate one. Bake cupcakes with your kids and celebrate because everyone deserves a birthday!

8. Pray for the Protection of Life

Teach children that before any other action they take, prayer must be their starting point. Incorporate the month of the Rosary with Respect Life month by praying a family rosary for life!
