Trust in God.

Day to day life in a family is hard and always filled with unexpected adventures.  In my own family, we’ve had to pry glue sticks out of babies’ mouths, drag kids away from the dessert aisle, soothe little ones who start to sing during the Sunday homily, and comfort teenagers trying to figure out their future.  Sometimes, all in the same day.

And this seeming craziness is only the tip of the iceberg. Sometimes, catastrophic events (like the current pandemic) rock our world. But we all have our own struggles and spiritual warfare going on in ourselves and our families, things which are difficult to discuss with even our closest friends.

We know in our hearts that the answer is to trust in God.  But what does that look like in everyday life?

The answer is directly linked to Jesus’ Divine Mercy.

In 1931, Jesus appeared to a humble Polish nun named Sister Faustina Kowalska.  In a series of visions, He revealed the extent and power of His Divine Mercy to her. Among many beautiful things He told her, Jesus talked about TRUST.

Trust is the key to unlocking My Mercy…..Whoever places his trust in My Mercy will be filled with My divine peace….…. If your trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity.”

Divine Mercy in my Soul

This is why under every Divine Mercy image, we see the words “Jesus, I Trust in You!”  By trusting in His mercy and love, we surrender to His Wisdom. We cease to worry about things not in our control because we know that His Mercy will always bring peace…always

Thus, Jesus’ Divine Mercy is the answer to all our worries and fears for the future, the key to living a joyful life in the present moment!

For true trust in the Lord is to rely on His Mercy more than our own worries.

So how can we grow in trust this Easter Season?  Here are three ideas:

Firstly, participate in the Divine Mercy Novena with your family, beginning on Good Friday.

Each day of the novena has specific instructions–just subscribe to our blog with the button below, and we’ll notify you via email of everything!

Jesus specifically asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena which would begin on Good Friday and end on the Sunday after Easter, and He provided the specific instructions for each of the nine days.

In her diary, St. Faustina wrote that Jesus told her:

“On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy … On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls.”

He gave St. Faustina a specific intention to pray for on each day of the Novena, saving the most difficult intention of all – the lukewarm and indifferent – for the last day.  Of these souls, Jesus told Faustina:

“These souls cause Me more suffering than any others; it was from such souls that My soul felt the most revulsion in the Garden of Olives. It was on their account that I said: ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass Me by.’ The last hope of salvation for them is to flee to My Mercy.”

If you haven’t prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy before, it doesn’t take long to learn!  It’s super short (takes less time to pray than a Rosary). It’s easy to learn. It’s powerful.  And you can recite or sing it…whichever your family prefers!

We at Holy Heroes are firm believers in the power of this Novena…which is why we are making it easy for you to commit to praying it this year!

Subscribe to our blog notifications and you will receive a link to each day’s prayer via email…we’re making it easy to join us and Catholics around the world in answering the request of Jesus!

Finally, maybe you and your family don’t know how to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, or perhaps it’s been a few years and you need a refresher. In this blog series, we will detail exactly how to pray the Chaplet and include audio links!

Secondly, go to Confession.  Let God impart His mercy to you.  He is All-Loving, and wants you to be at peace!  As He told St. Faustina,

“Tell souls where they are to look for solace; that is, in the Tribunal of Mercy. There the greatest miracles take place and are incessantly repeated. To avail oneself of this miracle, it is not necessary to go on a great pilgrimage…it suffices to come with faith to the feet of My representative [a priest] and to reveal to him one’s misery, and the miracle of Divine Mercy will be fully demonstrated. The miracle of Divine Mercy restores that soul in full.”
