You have probably heard of the Stations of the Cross, but have you heard of the Stations of the Resurrection?

The Stations of the Resurrection or Via Lucis is a Catholic devotion for the Easter Season.

While Catholics meditate on Christ’s Passion and Death during Lent through the Stations of the Cross,
the Stations of the Resurrection offer meditations on the events from Easter Sunday through the entire Easter Season.

The Congregation for Divine Worship tells us that, “Using the metaphor of a journey, the Via Lucis moves from the experience of suffering, which in God’s plan is part of life, to the hope of arriving at man’s true end: liberation, joy and peace which are essentially paschal values.”

After praying the Stations of the Cross during Lent, the 14 meditations in the Stations of the Resurrection are a joyful way to pray through Jesus’ time on earth…after the Resurrection!

NOW–perhaps you wondering HOW to pray the Stations of the Resurrection? We created a few resources to help you start this devotion!

First, our NEW Stations of the Resurrection posters are a perfect companion to our Stations of the Cross posters. After Holy Week, you can replace your Stations of the Cross posters with these stunning Stations of the Resurrection posters. Such a wonderful way to tie the sorrowful events of Lent into the joy of the Easter Season!

Once you hang the posters, download this FREE printable with the companion prayers. This simple download has all the instructions to confidently lead the Stations of the Resurrection with your family!

Second, many families enjoy using our Road to Calvary coloring book to color along with the Stations of the Cross during Lent.

We created a similar coloring companion for the Stations of the Resurrection–a perfect way for young children to follow along with this devotion!

This 30-page download includes:
  • directions for how to pray the Stations of the Resurrection,
  • 14 Scripture citations,
  • 14 coloring pages (perfect to engage little kids!),
  • and 14 prayers that you can pray after the Scripture meditation.

A final question we get: When should families pray the Stations of the Resurrection?

You can pray the Stations of the Resurrection anytime during the Easter Season! Some families like to pray them on Fridays (mimicking the practice of praying the Stations of the Cross during Lent) while others like to pray them on Sunday afternoons or evenings.
