Emily Koczela is currently traveling to Antarctica, where she is researching another Very Young Catholic volume! Previously, she shared a few updates on our Very Young Catholic monthly newsletter (sign up for that below), but today we wanted to share a longer update on the blog!
Now, an update from Emily:

As I write from the far south of the world, I know that people have only one first question: Did you see penguins? Yes–I have seen some, and I am headed to see a lot more.
My first stop was the islands off the east coast of Argentina, known to most people as the Falklands, but to the Argentines as Los Malvinas. There aren’t very many people in the Falklands – only about 3,000 – but there is a very nice Catholic parish. You can see Derrick and his family here, and you will learn more about him when I write the book. Derrick is an altar server, he loves basketball, and his family made sure I saw the best of the Falklands, which are wild and windswept.
The second stop was Ushuaia, the southern tip of Argentina, and the jump-off point for the Antarctic. This city proclaims itself as El Fin del Mundo, the end of the world.

In a few hours, I take up the last leg of this trip, to Antarctica itself. There are five Catholic churches there, so for those readers who want seven continents in this series, we are about to add the seventh continent! It’s a good idea for this series about the Catholic Church’s presence everywhere.
Of course, there are also lots of penguins in Antarctica, and I expect they praise God in their own way. I’ll send another story when I am back!
While Emily continues to work on this book, browse the rest of the Very Young Catholic volumes (perfect for Easter baskets)!
