My daughter was 7 when she announced at dinner, “Hannah asked me to baptize her today
so I did it just like it says in the Catechism. I told her all about how baptism removes original sin from her soul and enables her to go to Heaven. She was so excited to be filled with sanctifying grace!”

Greattttt–that won’t be an awkward conversation to have with our (then) atheist neighbors.

Since we didn’t know the exact etiquette for when your daughter baptized someone else’s kid with a hose…we went next door after dinner to explain and (sort of?) apologize to the girl’s parents.

That was over 20 years ago, but here is what I learned that night:

Kids are capable of comprehending deep truths.

So that’s what we do here–we give kids the truth without dumbing it down.

Yesterday, we told you that a parish bought 75 Bl. Carlo books for their middle schoolers.

Then 2 weeks later, they bought 100 more because so many kids ASKED to have a copy too.

After we shared this story, hundreds more were ordered by Catholic families (and a dozen more parishes)!

Here is why one person told us this book was so impactful:

I am ashamed to admit that I had previously suspected that Blessed Carlo’s sanctity was being overblown in an attempt to give the world its first ‘millennial saint.

Reading this book proved me wrong. I was instantly captivated by the story of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who was born the same year as my own firstborn child. As I read the incredible, uncommon life he led from infancy, my heart swelled with awe and gratitude at what the Lord had done. This young man changed everyone around him, and he changed me as well, as he has become a heavenly friend and a daily intercessor in my life.

This book is a detailed look at the life of Blessed Carlo Acutis–-with insights from those who knew him and the Vatican documents compiled during his cause for sainthood.

It addresses the questions many children have about how someone becomes a saint and the Church’s process of recognizing if someone is in Heaven.

Most importantly–this is created FOR KIDS to engage them in this inspiring young boy.

PS–and that family who lived next door all those years ago?

They became Catholic a few Easters later….and Hannah got a conditional baptism…just in case.
